Rosa Supply Case Sew Along - Making the Exterior

by Christine Lux

Have you seen the Rosa Supply Case Sew Along with Clover & Violet? We decided to join the fun!

This week, we're making the exterior of the case. I had planned to use a kit and then switched gears when I got distracted by the scrap bins at my friend's house!

Totally distracting, right? Scraps and fat sixteenths are so fun to chop up and sew back together!

I fussy cut some things and pieced together a large enough rectangle to quilt for my exterior.

And then I had some fun free motion quilting it before trimming it. :)

A quick note about piecing your exterior this way ... Jennie leaves room in her measurements to be able to trim down to match your lining, if needed. My lining with the pockets was more narrow than I wanted to trim my exterior, so I adjusted my lining instead of my quilted exterior. More on that in next week's post. So I would recommend not putting any too-precious-to-chop bits near the edges and wait to trim until after you making your lining. ;-)
